Have to contribute our comments in a blog... since it's private.. can't let u guys see..
I shall show u guys what i wrote there about what i really feel a teacher should be...
What does TSLN mean to you?
In my opinion, the title "Thinking School Learning Nation" already states its purpose very clearly that it aims for schools to develop thinking children and cultivate a nation with the right moral values and an attitude for life-long learning.
Mr. Peter Chen (2000), made an important statement, "education can help a child attain his/her full potential through developing him/her morally, intellectually, physically, socially and aesthetically."
Hence, Thinking School Learning Nation plays an important role in developing a child holistically, in order to prepare our young generation for the future.
As teachers, how may you contribute to making this vision a reality?

I personally feel that nurturing a child's character is more important than achieving academic success.
To me, having academic success is just a stepping stone for a person to enter an industry etc... but it's the character that brings a person to a greater height.
With the right personality and attitude, the child will work hard for himself, his parents and the society. Eventually, achieving academic success and contributing back.
Therefore, not only will I aim to deliver my lesson that stimulates critical thinking, I will also ensure character development of the child, by integrating National Education (NE) in my subjects, and using opportunities e.g. "teaching moments" to inculcate values such as kindness and life-long learning attitudes to pupils.
With this, I can play my part in bringing TSLN's vision into reality.
Best Wishes,
Jessica Tan
